Here are some pics from Samsarat al-Mansurah, a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Old Sana’a. This gallery featured mostly modern art. Looking at this art, one cannot help but notice the common theme of nostalgia. Most of the paintings feature a colourful montage of scenes of the pre-modern rustic past. But then again, Yemen itself is a colourful montage of scenes of the pre-modern rustic past!
The last picture is of the one…the only…Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah ennoble his countenance) Mosque! Ali ibn Abi Talib was the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), who was well-known for his piety, his sincere devotion to God, and his ascetism. The mosque was established by its namesake many years ago.
