Okara Nuggets


3-4 c. of steamed okara

2-4 tomatoes

1/4 of an onion

3-4 cloves of garlic

3 c. of quick oats

1 tsp. of each: salt, cumin, pepper, etc.


Cooking Oil


  1. Blend tomatoes, onion, garlic, and seasonings in a blender or food processor
  2. Add above mixture to the steamed okara
  3. Stir in oats to the above mixture
  4. Form nuggets with hands and coat in flour
  5. Heat cooking oil
  6. Fry nuggets on both sides until they look good

NB- I’ve tried this recipe with Yemeni and expat omnivores and they liked it!

    1. good question!
      i steamed the okara pulp right after straining it from the uncooked soy milk.
      does that make sense now?
